Four Friday Nights - A guided tour of the synagogue experience 5.17, 5.31, 6.7, 6.14

We invite you to join us on a tour of Shabbat services, exploring a cross-section of NYC's offerings, as guests of four distinct communities. In the company of like-minded RuJews exploring Judaism, prayer, and the inner journey, we'll take part in authentic Friday night services, dinner, and discussion.

Over the course of May and June, we will venture into four vibrant and very different synagogues to experience the vibe, community, and space created by each one. These congregations range in style and substance, in level of adherence to tradition (from Orthodox to Jewish Renewal), and in a myriad of other ways.

  • Fri, May 17th -  The Carlebach Shul, UWS, 7:00PM
  • Fri, May 31st - Congregation Beit Simhat Torah, Chelsea, 6:30PM
  • Fri, Jun 7th - Romemu, UWS, 6:00PM
  • Fri, Jun 14th - Bnai Jeshurun, UWS, 6:30PM

There will be a 1/2 hour introduction and Q&A session before we go into each synagogue.  For the first three visits, after services, the group will be hosted for a full Shabbat dinner with the Rabbi or Rabbinical Assistant of each congregation.

After our final visit on June 14th, we will organize a Shabbat dinner just for us, the participants, to decompress, discuss what we experienced and learned, and how we felt.

This program is conceived as a unified series, comprised of 4 visits. For a full experience, we ask that you try to make it to all four sessions, to be able to compare and contrast the full spectrum.

Cost per evening (for the dinner): $30 per person
